The Role of Christ in Salvation

Salvation has two sides. The first is that which our Lord Jesus Christ did. Jesus Christ is the core of the gospel. Without his deed, without his mission nobody could ever be saved. What was His mission? His mission was His birth on this earth, to live a holy life, to preach the gospel of the kingdom, to manifest the will of the Father, to die on the cross for our sins, to be raised from the death, and finally to ascend to heaven where He awaits union with all of His followers and when His enemies will be put under his feet. Matthew 19:16-20:16

The text from Matthew 20:1-16 is known as “The Parable of the workers in the vineyard”. In this parable as in a number of other parables Jesus allows us to look into the human heart and see what lies within it. This particular parable deals with an attitude that like pride and unforgiveness has no place in the kingdom of God. In our world this attitude is considered to be normal and acceptable.
